Bob Molyneux is Chief Statistician at SirsiDynix where he works primarily on the Normative Data Project to collect, analyze, and publish data on statistics related to public libraries. Bob came to SirsiDynix from the National Commission on Libraries and Information Science where he worked with the National Center for Education Statistics series of library data. He produced a standard edition of those data that can now be used for analyzing trends in U.S. public libraries. He has also compiled other library data series over the last 20 years.
Prior to NCLIS, he taught at the University of South Carolina’s School of Library and Information Science, primarily teaching courses dealing with technology. He taught in two other library schools and has worked in three ARL libraries and one public library.
He holds his baccalaureate from the University of Virginia, an M.S.L.S from Western Reserve University (now Case Western Reserve University), and doctoral degree from the University of North Carolina. He has published monographs and articles on a range of topics related to libraries, library data and statistics, and information technology.
